Dulce Maria Ruelas was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States with her mother at the age of 4. Ms. Ruelas knows firsthand the hardship of uncovering services for the Mexican Population in the State of Arizona so she has dedicated her promotion of health education and been an activist for human rights to the Latino population for the past 13 years. She has worked and volunteered at grass-roots, non-profit organizations that advocate for the Latino voice in promotion of health education.
Ms. Ruelas currently works for Chicanos Por La Causa, Head Start Programs as the Health Coordinator. These programs serve migrant, seasonal, and low income families. She works across five cities with staff to find health and dental services for pregnant women and children. Among her duties she creates partnerships with health care providers, dentists, and hospitals
