Janet is originally from northern Virginia where she graduated with her Bachelors degree in Global and Community Health Sciences from George Mason University. She is the youngest of three children and a first generation American. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, Janet has seen the struggle that her parents have endured to provide a better future for her and her siblings. Through those experiences Janet developed a passion to help communities in need by providing them with education and resources to help prevent morbidity and mortality.
Janet graduated from Texas A&M University in 2015 with a Masters in Public Health in Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences. Soon after she moved to Phoenix to pursue a career at the Maricopa Department of Public Health. Janet worked as a Project Assistant for the Safe Sleep project in the Epidemiology Department. She later moved on to the Office of Community Empowerment where she brings her community health skills to help communities in Maricopa County.
